NightShift is a place-hacking art fest that happened in November every year in downtown Kitchener.
My friends and I decided to participate in our own way in 2017. I organized a tea party complete with masks by Steve Wintercroft. We even had a pre-nightshift crafting/planning party at my place a few weeks prior.
Some of us were dealing with some mental health issues and so it seemed comforting to venture out into the night as giant, well dressed, anonymous bunnies. It was great.
Our main objective was to meet up and drink some tea at City Hall -- possibly turn some heads. We sat around on the floor in the big rotunda and snapped a few photos. It was a grande time.
After that, the crew was free to explore the rest of the festival as they wanted, either as a bunny or not.
It was a very rainy night and my mask lasted longer than I had expected. It finally died after I enjoyed a bit too much outdoor rain dancing at one of the more music-ey installations. I had alot of fun rallying my friends to do this odd thing with me. I will never forget that night.
NightShift is now canceled due to lack of funding but I have some serious plans to throw a goodbye party at a local grocery store in DTK this November.
